Shortly after, a Gators fielding error extended the inning, bringing home Blake DeLamielleure to give Jacksonville a 2-0 advantage. The Gators then rallied to score four runs and take a 4-2 lead before the Dolphins got back on the board in the fifth. Bastian led off the inning with a triple, and he later scored on a balk by the Gators' pitcher, cutting the deficit to 4-3 in favor of Florida.
Florida built its lead to 8-3 before Jacksonville got back in action, cutting the deficit to 8-4 in the seventh on an RBI single from DeLamielleure. However, the Dolphins couldn't close the gap any further, as the Gators added two more runs and secured a 10-4 victory.
