GAINESVILLE, Fla. --Jacksonville Baseball came up short against No. 13 Florida on Tuesday night, falling 16-4 despite a home run from senior Blake DeLamielleure.
Offensively, the Dolphins were led by DeLamielleure, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and two RBI. Sophomore Cade Hentz put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Senior Aidan Masters also contributed for Jacksonville, going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dolphins were trailing 4-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Jacksonville plated two runs when DeLamielleure left the yard with junior Blake Edmonds aboard.
The Gators expanded their lead to 10-2 before the Dolphins offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. Jacksonville plated two runs off Florida pitching, highlighted by a run-scoring double from Masters to make it 10-3. Hentz followed with an RBI single to shortstop, bringing Masters home.The 'Phins were unable to close the gap as Florida added six more runs, securing a 16-4 victory in seven innings.
GAME NOTES
- Jacksonville pitchers faced 42 Florida hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and four fly balls while striking out six.
- DeLamielleure led the Dolphins at the plate, going 1-for-3 with his fourth home run of the year, tying him for the team lead with Josh Steidl and Jaden Bastian.
