JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --Though they had plenty of opportunities, Jacksonville had a hard time cashing them in, leaving 14 Dolphins on base in an 11-1 defeat at the hands of the Stetson Hatters on Sunday.
Junior Alex Walsh was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 4.2 shutout innings while allowing three hits, walking one and striking out three.
Offensively, the Dolphins were paced by junior Chandler Howard, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Senior Josh Steidl compiled a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with two walks. Sophomore Conner Spelman also contributed for Jacksonville, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Facing a 7-0 deficit, the Dolphins finally broke through in the fourth inning when Chandler Howard led off with a solo home run, his fourth of the season.
Jacksonville was unable to close the gap, as Stetson added four more runs to secure an 11-1 final.
