JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville University men's lacrosse team defeated Air Force 15-11 in the ASUN conference opener. It was the first home game for Jacksonville since February 22nd, a victory over Hampton.
How It Happened
The Dolphins started fast, as

Ethan LaMond and
Jack Taylor went back-to-back-to-back to give JU a 3-0 lead at the 8:10 mark of the first quarter. It was the first of four goals for LaMond, a season high and most in one game for the senior since the 2022 season.
A game of runs ensued, with Air Force pulling within one, making it a 4-3 game. Jacksonville made it 6-3 quickly but the Falcons tied things up at the halftime break with a score of 6-6.
A four-goal run to open up the second half for JU gave the Dolphins a seemingly comfortable 10-6 lead capped off by LaMond's fourth of the game with 13:55 remaining.
A furious comeback for Air Force began as the Falcons scored four straight of their own, scoring four goals by the 11:12 mark to tie it at 10-10. JU dug deep and finished the game on a 5-1 run, pulling away and earning a 15-11 victory to move to 1-0 in ASUN conference play.

Head Coach John Galloway
"I am really proud of how our team handled the ups and downs of today's game against a very talented Air Force team. We could have wilted when Air Force made multiple comebacks, but I felt like our leadership made sure that the team stayed optimistic through any mistakes.
We have a lot to address, but we are just excited to start conference play 1-0. I am also very proud of our young freshman Michael Meredith and Lucas Fraser who continue to make impact plays in meaningful moments. However, it was our veteran rope unit and Jackson Intrieri and Ethan Lamond that made the important ones when we absolutely needed it to settle down.
If we can continue to play complementary lacrosse, I believe our best days are still ahead of us. Now all of our focus will shift to a young and hungry Queen's team."
