Dolphins Pick Up Senior Day Shutout Over Stetson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Dolphins sent off the team's six seniors in style Sunday, defeating Stetson 2-0 on senior day.

With the win, JU snapped a five-game losing streak and moved to 21-24 overall on the season and 8-13 in conference play. The win was the team's final contest at the Debbie and Fred Pruitt Softball Complex for the 2025 season.

While it was a momentous day for the team's oldest players, a pair of sophomores helped see Jacksonville to its shutout win.

At the plate, Jazz Jones knocked in the team's first run of the day in the fourth on a single to right field. Later in the frame, with two outs, Jones deliberately got run down in a pickle which allowed Alison Carter to sneak home from third before Jones was tagged out, pushing the score to its final.

In the circle, sophomore ace Skylar Waggoner went the distance once again and picked up her sixth win of the year. Waggoner allowed just five hits with one strikeout and no walks.

As for a few of the graduating players, Gabby Baylog had a strong day with a team-best two hits in three at bats. Senior Haley Fox, squaring off against her former team, went 1-3 while also making a leaping save at the left field fence to keep a run off the board.

Jones, who too made a diving effort at second base to steal an out, and Alayna Gaddy picked up a hit each.

Jacksonville has one final regular season series before beginning the ASUN Tournament. The Dolphins will travel to Queens University for a three-game stand, with the first game slated for Friday, May 2 at 2 p.m.
