DELAND, FL --Jacksonville Baseball was defeated 10-3 by the Stetson Hatters on Saturday afternoon. Despite an early jumpstart, JU was unable to hold off Stetson's offensive surge.
At the plate, the Dolphins were paced by Bastian, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a double, a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The 'Phins jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Jaden Bastian led off with a double and advanced to third on a groundout by Jonah Shields. Josh Steidl then drove Bastian home with an RBI groundout, giving Jacksonville a quick 1-0 lead.
After the Dolphins took the early lead, the Hatters' bats came alive, adding runs throughout the game to take control. Jacksonville didn't back down, though, battling until the final inning. In the ninth, the Dolphins pushed across two runs, narrowing the deficit to 10-3 with two bases-loaded walks. Despite the rally, JU couldn't generate any more offense, ultimately falling short in the defeat.
