Five Dolphins Earn All-MAAC Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Following the conclusion of Sunday's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships, the league announced its all conference teams, and five Jacksonville Dolphins were among the honorees.

Junior Anne Geurts, who rowed in the eight seat in the first Varsity 8+ crew, earned first team All-MAAC honors for the second consecutive season. The third year rower from the Netherlands has earned All-Conference honors each of her three seasons with the Dolphins. Jacksonville also had a pair of first-time honorees make the first team: sophomore Holly Rosser and junior Lura Johnson. They rowed in the fifth and sixth seat in the first Varsity 8+, respectively.

The Dolphins added a pair of honorees on the All-MAAC second team. Senior coxswain Mackenzie Thurlow earned the first All-Conference recognition of her four-year career in Jacksonville, while sophomore Nyah Lam earned the first All-MAAC selection of her young career --- the third Dolphins underclassman to be named to an All-Conference team this season.

Jacksonville valiantly fought to retain its conference crown this season, tying league winners Fairfield in the total points, but the Stags took first place due to the first Varsity 8+ tiebreaker. The Dolphins finished top three in every event in the championships, including a first-place finish in the second Varsity 8+ final.
