TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Baseball couldn't slow down one of the nation's top offenses on Tuesday night, falling 14-2 to No. 2 Florida State at Dick Howser Stadium.
Sophomore Garrett Corbett got the start for Jacksonville (27-19) and was tagged with the loss after allowing one run on two hits over three innings, striking out four.
Freshman
Josh Fernald provided a bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing a scoreless, hitless inning in relief.
At the plate, JU was paced by senior
Blake DeLamielleure, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dolphins were trailing 14-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Jacksonville plated two runs off of Florida State pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of DeLamielleure.
JU was unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
GAME NOTES
- JU pitchers faced 39 Florida State hitters in the game, allowing seven ground balls and two fly balls while striking out eight.
- The Dolphins drew four walks from Florida State pitching.
