PENNSAUKEN, N.J. --- The Jacksonville men's rowing program travelled to New Jersey this week to compete in the Dad Vail Regatta, the team's final event before the IRA National Championships.
"After months of preparation, it's time for Dad Vails. Since SIRA, the team has had a lot to focus on; seat racing, final exams, end of year celebrations, graduation. But at the end of the day, we race," Jacksonville head coach
Preston Weinard said.
Jacksonville will open the week with the varsity Pair in the opening time trial at 8:25 a.m. Friday. The first eight-man crew, the third Varsity 8+, jets off for its opening time trial at 9:40 a.m., with the second Varsity 8+ competing at 9:55 a.m.
The first Varsity 8+ will have its time trial at 11:50 a.m. to close out the morning session.
The afternoon competition will open with the varsity Pair semifinals at 1:30 p.m. and 1:36 p.m. The second Varsity 8+ semi finals are at 3:12 p.m. and 3:18 p.m. to close Friday.
The finals for the varsity Pair will open Saturday's action with the final at 8:12 a.m. The second Varsity 8+ final is set for 8:48 a.m., then the first Varsity 8+ finals start. The third final is 9:54 a.m., then the first and second semi finals are set for 10 and 10:06 a.m. respectively.Â
The Dolphins next chance to compete will come with the third Varsity 8+ grand final at 2:10 p.m., before the second Varsity 8+ at 2:30 p.m. The first Varsity 8+ finals will set off at 5:02 and 5:10 p.m.
"JU has been developing racers out of our squad. Each crew operating at a high standard, and each crew focusing on racing. I'm looking forward to watching them execute their best this weekend and represent JU at the highest level! GBTW!," Weinard said.
