CARROLLTON, Ga. --- The Jacksonville Dolphins dropped just their fifth game of the season, falling 74-59 to the West Georgia Wolves on the road.
The Dolphins (10-5, 2-2 ASUN) were led by sophomore
Mychal White and graduate student
Priscilla Williams. Williams was dominant inside, collecting her fifth double-double of the season.
She cleaned up on the glass, grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds to go along with 15 points.
White led the team in scoring, putting 15 on the board. She's scored 15-plus points in back-to-back games. This is her sixth game with 15 or more points.
Jacksonville trailed in the early going, with UWG taking a 10-2 lead early. The Dolphins answered with a 7-0 run, with White punctuating things with a layup off an assist from freshman
Tatum Brown.
White scored again in the paint, but a series of Wolves free throws put the hosts up six through the first quarter. Despite seven more points from White, the Dolphins fell behind in the second period, trailing 38-26 at halftime.
Jacksonville rallied early in the second half. It started with Williams, winning an offensive rebound and putting it back in for two with a foul. She cashed in the and-one opportunity, and freshman
Aniah Smith hit a pair from the stripe soon after.
A West Georgia triple briefly interrupted the run, but junior
Carmaya Bowman, Brown and Smith all got on the score sheet to cut the deficit to six. The teams continued to trade runs, but the six-point deficit remained at the end of the third.
Williams scored six points in the final quarter, but the Dolphins never found a late run to close the gap.
