JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two Jacksonville men's basketball players were named to the Preseason All-ASUN Team
the league announced Tuesday.
Sophomore guard
Hayden Wood and junior transfer guard
Jamie Phillips Jr. were both voted on by league coaches as being two of the top 10 players across the league. The pair of guards joined student-athletes honored from Bellarmine, Lipscomb, Queens and Stetson.
Last season at Jacksonville, Wood led the Dolphins in almost every statistical category en route to being named to the All-ASUN Freshman Team. The Arkansas native was the only double-digit scorer for the 'Phins last season, leading the team with 11.8 points per game and a 37.7% shooting clip from range across the entire season.
In conference play, Wood turned things up a notch where he averaged 13.7 points per game and was second on the team in total blocks with 13. He had seven games with 20 or more points, six of which came against ASUN opponents.
As for the Stetson transfer Phillips, he was named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team after a solid campaign in DeLand during the 2024-25 season, which in turn earned him the distinction of the 2025-26 ASUN Preseason Player of the Year last cycle.
The guard from Winter Haven, Fla. played in 17 games last year for the Hatters before being sidelined with an injury but still led the squad in points per game at 16.0. Before his season ended, Phillips dropped a career-high 30 points against Lipscomb on 10-14 shooting and 5-9 clip from range. Phillips had six games over 20 points last season and had 13 of his 17 games in double-digit scoring.
