JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville Dolphins and head coach
John Galloway announced their new men's lacrosse captains ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 season. Graduate student
Breyden Harrison, seniors
Calvin Taulbee,
William Krupsky and
Drew Rippeon and junior
Lucas Fraser will serve as captains for JU this season.
"In the book we chose for our Leadership Council this year, there is a powerful message that resonated with me as we determined our leadership for this season: We must seek first to serve, then to lead," Galloway said. "These five young men have spent the fall serving our organization and, in doing so, have earned the respect and trust of their peers. Each captain was chosen to represent a different subset of our team, ensuring that everyone in our locker room has a voice."
This year's captains class is a reflection of the team's leadership council and represents the strong player leadership the program has been built on.
"I am humbled and grateful every day to work alongside these five men and our Leadership Council as we make decisions in the best interest of our team and our mission," Galloway said. "They understand that leadership isn't about a title. It's about serving the people beside you. I can't wait to begin."
Harrison is one of the most veteran players in the program. He's played in 49 games over the last three seasons, becoming a stalwart of JU's rope unit. Harrison is one of the top short-stick defensive midfielders in the country, earning back-to-back All-ASUN First Team honors.
"It's an incredible honor to be selected as captain of this program. Jacksonville lacrosse has given to me more than I could ask for on and off the field," Harrison said. "I am grateful for this opportunity to lead this group of guys. As I am excited, I don't take this responsibility lightly, and am proud to represent this program and raise the standard."
Taulbee has been a warrior for the Dolphins who's done everything the team has needed. He did not see game action last season, but has played in 15 games over his college career, tallying nine ground balls and five caused turnovers.
"To be a captain at Jacksonville is an honor. I think back to all the great captains I've had throughout my career and the positive influence they've had on me," Taulbee said. "It is a privilege to be in this position alongside my fellow captains, whom I have a ton of respect for. Lastly, I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and all those who came before me."
Krupsky blossomed on the field in the home stretch last season. He finished the season with 32 points (24G, 8A), including a career-high four goals against Robert Morris in the NCAA Tournament. Krupsky also thrives off the field, being named to the ASUN All-Academic team last season.
"I'm so grateful for this opportunity that God has blessed me with," Krupsky said. "To lead this team and be named captain is a dream come true. It's an honor to be a part of such a great program and staff. Go 'Phins!"
The last of the seniors, Rippeon has become one of the great faceoff men in program history. He ranks third in program history for ground balls (218) and faceoff wins (413). Last season he added hardware to his resume, winning ASUN Specialist of the Year and Tournament MVP honors. Like Krupsky, Rippeon's earned major recognition for his work off the field as well, earning Academic All-ASUN honors in back-to-back seasons.
"First, I am honored to be named captain. I want to thank all of the coaches and my teammates for making this possible," Rippeon said. "I also want to thank all of the great guys who came before me and taught me what it means to be a part of our program. It has been an incredible journey over the past couple of years, and I look forward to continuing to grow alongside the incredible men in this program each day. I am truly grateful for this and excited for what's ahead."
Fraser is the youngest of the five captains. In just two seasons, the Canadian long pole has become one of the most dynamic players in school history. He already holds the program record for points by a long pole (10), and has the most caused turnovers through two seasons of any Dolphin (53).
This past season, he also became the first JU underclassmen to earn All-American honors while also helping Team Canada to a gold medal at the Pan-American Lacrosse Championship this summer.
"Being named Captain for this team means everything to me," Fraser said. "Being able to represent my team, my school, and my country playing the sport I love with my best friends. It's an honor to work my hardest for my coaches and teammates who believe in me!"
The Dolphins open their fall ball season this Saturday against Anderson. The game is scheduled for 11 AM at Rock Stadium.
