Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In the first of back-to-back meetings with the sixth ranked Florida Gators, Jacksonville was defeated 20-0.
The Tuesday night game served as the first of two games with Florida, the next coming in Gainesville Wednesday night.
JU and UF battled for two straight no-run innings before a 14-run outburst by the visitors flipped things around. The Dolphins ended with five hits, with one each from
Kate Linkletter, freshman
Jaida Thomas, freshman
Maci Burkhart,
Jacy Harrelson and freshman
Vic Brunette.
On the mound, earning the start, was
Jordan White who pitched a pair of innings and gave up six hits.
Karson Johnson came on in relief before
Delcie Swift appeared in her first college game. Swift went two innings and gave up seven hits after facing 13 batters.
Appearing in her first game at the plate was
Elizabeth Harley as well.
Linkletter started things off hot for JU with a single to left field in the first before Thomas followed with a double. The 'Phins couldn't get the runners around by inning's end.
Harrelson started the fifth off with a single to right before Florida got out of the inning and ended things in run-rule fashion.
After Jacksonville's Wednesday night tilt on ESPN+ against UF, the Dolphins return home for four games in the JU/UNF Classic. Jacksonville starts off its second tournament of the year against Stony Brook on Feb. 13 at 1:30 p.m. EST.
