JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Baseball fell to Florida State, 13-3, in eight innings Tuesday night at John Sessions Stadium.
Ben Baker-Livingston got the call on the mound for the Dolphins in the midweek matchup.
The graduate transfer pitched 3.2 innings in his debut, registering three strikeouts and two walks. He gave up four hits and three runs, two of them being earned.
The Seminoles used a pair of big innings to pull away, highlighted by a six-run sixth inning that created separation as Florida State earned the run-rule victory.
Despite the result, junior
Derek Bermudez continued his scorching hot start to the season, accounting for all three Dolphin runs with a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth.
Bermudez launched a shot to left field to score
Roger Vergara and
Jonah Shields, providing Jacksonville's lone scoring swing of the night.
Jonah Shields also continued his hot streak at the plate, adding two base hit singles in four at-bats.
Florida State opened the scoring in the fourth and added consistently through the middle innings, finishing with 13 runs on 11 hits.
Jacksonville will look to bounce back as it returns to action this weekend at John Sessions Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. versus the Long Island Sharks.
It's the first of a four-game weekend series, that features a double-header Saturday, and the finale on Sunday.
