JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Tewaaraton Award, given annually to the most outstanding player in college lacrosse, saw its watch list expand by 15 names this week. Among those recognized as names to watch was Jacksonville graduate student goalie
Ryan Della Rocco.
Della Rocco has been one of the best netminders in the country during his JU career, and he's on pace for perhaps the best season yet of his remarkable college career. He's 19th nationally in save percentage at 54.9% and averaging 11.2 saves per game.
In big moments, Della Rocco has been a brick wall. Against No. 18 Rutgers in the season opener, he made 17 saves at 60.7%. Against No. 6 North Carolina, he made 15 more stops at 57.7%.
He won ASUN Player of the Week after his performances in Chapel Hill, his fourth career ASUN Player of the Week award.
Della Rocco is no stranger to national recognition. In 2024, he was named an honorable mention All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. He won ASUN Defensive Player of the Year that season, as well, performing as one of the most dominant net-minders in the country.
Della Rocco is the only ASUN player on the Tewaaraton watch list, either the initial list or a part of this week's update.
The Dolphins return to Rock Stadium this weekend against the Detroit Mercy Titans. Opening faceoff is at noon Saturday.
