JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- After two neutral site games, two road trips and a home opener, the Jacksonville Dolphins will finally get back-to-back games on their home turf. The home slate opens with a Saturday duel against former ASUN foe Detroit Mercy.
Last Time Out
The Dolphins won bragging rights and the River to Ridge Rivalry Trophy in dominant fashion, beating the High Point Panthers 18-7 last Saturday. Jacksonville was led by its superstar attack line, including a six-goal, seven-point game from senior
Jack Taylor.
The Match-Up
Opponent: Detroit Mercy
Head Coach: Charlie Hayes (2nd Season)
2026 Record: 1-4
2025 Record: 6-7
Players To Watch: A Marcus Thundercloud, M Andrew Parker, D Kyle Grant
Second year head coach Charlie Hayes has the Titans on the upswing. A Detroit Mercy alum and current Premier Lacrosse League player, he led his alma mater to the NEC Championship Game last season. The Titans were picked fourth in the NEC Preseason Poll.
Attackman Marcus Thundercloud won the conference Rookie of the Year award a season ago, and he and sophomore midfielder Andrew Parker lead the team in scoring. Thundercloud and midfielder Julian Greendeer played with Jacksonville's
Daylin John-Hill for the Haudenosaunee Nationals at last summer's U-20 World Lacrosse Championships. Defenseman Kyle Grant is among the best in the county at his position, ranking fifth in the country for caused turnovers per game.
One Key Stat
12.67 Points Per Game From Starting Attack
As the Dolphins have settled into their starting attack unit, that front three has led from the front. In their last three games, the trio of Taylor, senior
Nicky Brown and sophomore
Daylin John-Hill are averaging nearly 13 points per game between the three of them.
Perhaps as important as the offensive production has been the impact on the ride. Against High Point, the Dolphins starting three combined for nine ground balls and five caused turnovers.
