Three Dolphins Earn First-Team All-ASUN

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville Dolphins saw themselves well represented in the Atlantic Sun postseason honors. After a regular season that saw JU finish second in the league standings, the Dolphins had five players make the All-ASUN team with three first teamers.

Junior Maeve Brennan and senior Maggie Cuddy and Abby Moran all earned first-team All-ASUN honors. For Cuddy and Moran, this is their second-consecutive season on the All-ASUN First Team.

Moran made history once again as one of the premier draw specialists in the country. She leads the ASUN and currently ranks fourth nationally with 10.94 draw controls per game. She broke her own single-season school record with 175 draw controls.

Cuddy was the anchor and quarterback of a Jacksonville defense that finished second in the league in goals allowed. She tallied a team-high 24 ground balls, corralled 35 draw controls and caused 18 turnovers.

Over the course of the season, Cuddy eclipsed the century mark for ground balls and caused turnovers while moving into the top five in program history for caused turnovers.

Brennan is a first timer on the first team, but she earned second-team all-league honors a year ago. After a strong sophomore campaign, she blossomed into one of the best offensive players in the country this season.

She leads the conference in scoring, averaging 4.31 points per game. She finished the regular season with 69 points, scoring 44 goals and dishing 25 assists. Brennan was a consistent producer, putting up three or more points in 12-straight games and all but two games all season.

In addition to the three first teamers, seniors Courtney Quirk and Brookelynn Hodgin were named to the All-ASUN Second Team.

Quirk arrived in Jacksonville for her senior season, and she turned in the best year of her college career. She tied Cuddy for the team lead in ground balls with 24, and she led the team with 22 caused turnovers.

Hodgin won ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year last year, and she turned in another All-ASUN performance this season. She posted the third-best goals against average in the league, allowing just 9.36 goals per game.

Alongside five All-ASUN honorees, freshman Paige Garguilo was named to the ASUN All-Freshman team. She was one of the top rookie scorers in the league, posting 15 goals and one assist on the season.

The Dolphins open their quest for another conference crown Thursday against the winner of Liberty and Kennesaw State. Opening draw is slated for 6 PM Thursday night.
