Dolphins Even River City Rumble with 4-3 win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville got out in front early and didn't give it back, taking game two of the River City Rumble with a 4-3 win over North Florida on Saturday night at Harmon Stadium.

The Dolphins struck immediately in the first. Sammy Mummau was hit by a pitch to open the game, and shortly after, Roger Vergara drove a two-run homer to right center to put Jacksonville in front, 2-0.

Jacksonville added on in the third, again starting with a leadoff baserunner. Vergara reached and moved into scoring position before Abdrial Delgado doubled down the left field line to bring him in. Logan Baratta followed with an RBI double of his own, extending the lead to 4-0.

Brendan Holland handled the rest.

The right-hander worked 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four. He kept UNF off the board through the first three innings and limited damage when the Ospreys broke through in the fourth.

North Florida made a late push, scoring once in the ninth to cut it to 4-3, but Dominic Pieto closed it out. The righty struck out three in the final inning to lock down his seventh save of the season.

Jacksonville finished with 10 hits, with Vergara, Baratta and Blake Edmonds each recording multi-hit games.

Vergara extended his hitting streak to 10 games with his first-inning homer, while Conner Spelman pushed his to eight.

With the win, the Dolphins even the series and set up a rubber match Sunday at 1 p.m.
