Success Table Guidelines

Any Jacksonville University student-athlete falling below a 3.0 grade point average will be required to complete a specific amount of Success Table hours per week with accordance to their grade point average and/or tier. In some cases, head coaches may require student-athletes to complete team Success Table hours regardless of grade point average requirement set by Student-Athlete Services (SAS). This can be determined by each coach each semester. With the omission of logging tutoring hours, all Success Table hours are to be completed in the Student-Athlete Center for Success (SACS) located in Botts Hall, or through team-specific Success Table(s). This time is to be used efficiently for academic purposes only! Please note that the mandatory Success Table hours must be completed at the following times:

Student-Athlete Center for Success (Botts Hall)
Monday-Thursday: 7a-9p
Friday: 7a-4p
Sunday: 4-9p

6 Hours per Week

Returning S-A with Cum. GPA Below 3.00 (2.75-2.99)

4 Hours per Week

Returning S-A with Cum. GPA Below 2.75 (2.25-2.74)

6 Hours per week

Returning S-A with Cum. GPA Below 2.25 (2.24-below)

8 Hours per week

* Each Head Coach may increase these requirements at his/her discretion.* 
*If a S-A is in their last season of eligibility and has a cumulative GPA of a 2.75 or better, they may be exempt from Success Table at the head coach’s discretion.*

 

 

Log-in/out Protocol:  

  • Student- Athletes are expected to complete 45 minute minimum each time they log in (Coach may increase time requirement).
  • There will be a Laptop in the SACS where S-As can swipe in to log their hours
  • To log-in, the student must swipe their JU ID to sign in and swipe their ID to sign out.  A session summary will display earned time, plus the weekly remainder
  • Proper log-in will be monitored at all times.  A student-athlete may not sign in another student-athlete.
     

Rules:

  • No Food or Drinks within the SACS study area(s) (Except water)
  • Once a student-athlete signs in to Success Tables she/he is to begin studying IMMEDIATELY.
  • Success Tables are to remain quiet at all times (no loud music and/or loud head phones).
  • Hours can be completed from Sunday through Friday each week.
  • All hours must be completed by 4:00 pm on Friday
  • Student-athletes are prohibited from using any social networks, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc. games, “surfing the web,” or using the computers for non-academic activity while signed in for Success Table. THIS MEANS NEVER! IF YOU LOG ON TO ANY OF THESE ACTIVITIES BE PREPARED TO HAVE TIME TAKEN AWAY OR BE ASKED TO LEAVE.
  • Monitors have the authority to dismiss a student-athlete from a study session if she/he is disruptive, disrespectful, or unproductive (Head Coaches will be made aware of disruptive activity).
  • If dismissed from Success Tables, the student-athlete will lose the time logged-in and will have to make up for it at a later time or date.
  • Tutoring sessions may count as Success Table hours, but the Success Table voucher must be filled out by the tutor and submitted to SAS for credit (by 4pm on the respective Friday).
  • Academic Enhancement Program (AEP) meetings will also count for Success Table hours for those who consistently meet with their SAS advisor.
  • Student-athletes are responsible for keeping track of their Success Table hours completed each week.  Monitors may update SAS on their hours completed; however, the student-athlete will be held accountable if they do not complete the required hours.

 

Voucher(s):

Success Table Vouchers are also available for student-athletes utilizing university sponsored tutoring sessions through the Academic Support Center (ASC), review sessions with professors, and time spent at the Writing Center.

An hours replacement voucher (which can be found on the Jacksonville Athletics Student-Athlete Services website, in the SACS, or at the ASC) must be filled out in its entirety, signed by the appropriate individuals, and submitted no later than Friday at 4:00 p.m. each week.


 

Policy: 

Jacksonville University Student-Athletes shall adhere to the Success Table requirements set forth by Jacksonville Athletics’ Student-Athlete Services. Failure to adhere to the required hours set forth by Student-Athlete Services results in the following penalties:

  • 1st Offense: S-A, Head Coach, & Sports Admin. notified- Head Coach issues appropriate response
  • 2nd Offense: S-A, Head Coach, AD and Sports Admin. notified- Head Coach suspends S-A from ALL athletic related activities for 1 day (w/in week of notice) (i.e practice or game)
  • 3rd Offense: S-A, Head Coach, Sports Admin., & AD notified- Head Coach suspends S-A from the NEXT scheduled athletic competition
  • Subsequent Offense(s): S-A, Head Coach, Sports Admin., & AD notified- Head Coach suspends S-A from 1 competition per offense.

 

Appeals Process:

Student-Athletes facing the aforementioned Missed Success Table penalties do have the ability to appeal. If the student-athlete believes the information related to the hours shortage is not accurate, he/she has 24-hours from the time of the notification to personally submit documented proof of error to the Director of Student-Athlete Services.
