Jacksonville University athletics fully supports our student-athletes in pursuit of name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities within national and Florida state law, University policies, and NCAA guidance.
INFLCR
JU has partnered with INFLCR to assist our student-athletes in education, compliance, disclosure forms, brand awareness and social media content. INFLCR will provide an easier way for student-athletes to disclose their NIL activities. Disclosure of NIL activities is required per Florida statutes 1006.74, 743.08, and 743.09.
Financial aid could be impacted based on NIL compensation. Consult the JU Student Financial Services office. International student-athletes should seek guidance from JU International Student Services.

NIL Overview and Guidelines
- Student-athletes may earn compensation for their name, image, and likeness. Such compensation must be within fair market value.
- Student-athletes must disclose all NIL opportunities in a timely manner and provide JU athletics with copies of any signed agreements. This is not an approval process but a component of the Florida state law.
- A student-athlete under the age of 18 years must have any contract for compensation for her or his name, image, likeness, or persona approved under state statutes 743.08 and 743.09.
- Student-athletes will not be permitted to enter into NIL agreements with gambling/sports wagering companies or companies associated with nutritional supplements and/or any substances on the NCAA's banned substance list.
- Compensation may not be provided in exchange for athletic performance or attendance at JU.
- Student-athletes may not miss class or required JU practice or competition to engage in an NIL activity.
- Neither JU nor JU staff members may compensate or arrange compensation to a current or prospective intercollegiate athlete for her or his NIL.
- The use of athletic department facilities will require approval in advance (location agreements, including waiver of liability forms and applicable rental fees).
- Student-athletes who wish to use JU logos, word marks, or other University intellectual property (slogans, etc.) must first receive written approval from JU's Office of Marketing and Communications.
- Student-athletes are permitted to have agents or lawyers to advise them on NIL deals, but still may not engage these individuals for professional playing opportunities. Agents must be registered in the state of Florida and lawyers must be in good standing with the Florida bar.
- The duration of a contract with an agent or consultant or for any NIL activity may not extend beyond intercollegiate athletics participation.
- Booster owned companies or companies they are employed by may provide compensation for a student-athlete's name, image, likeness so long as it is not arranged by the University, athletic department, coaches or staff.
- Student-athletes may not sell any items that he or she has received from his or her participation in JU athletics (participation gifts, awards, apparel, equipment, etc.)
- A student-athletes Pell Grant or need based financial aid could be impacted based on compensation from Name, Image and Likeness. Those questions should be directed to the Jacksonville University Student Financial Services.
- International student-athletes should not enter into any NIL agreements without the guidance from JU International Student Services to guard against any potential immigration issues. Contact the Office of International Student Services with any questions.
JU Booster and Collective Guidelines
A
Booster is an individual, corporate entity, or other organization which has either participated in or been involved with promoting JU athletics teams or provided benefits to student-athletes or their families. On May 10, 2022, the NCAA issued clarification that NIL collectives are considered boosters to schools of involved student-athletes and are bound to all the same guidelines for purposes of NIL activities.
The main points of the NCAA's NIL guidelines are:
- A booster, collective, or other NIL entity cannot communicate, for purposes of recruiting or enrollment purposes, in any form, with a prospective student-athlete or anyone affiliated with that prospective student-athlete.
- An NIL deal cannot be contingent on enrollment at JU or any other specific institution.Â
- JU institutional staff and coaches cannot facilitate NIL conversations or arrangements.Â
- JU institutional staff and coaches cannot communicate with a prospect on behalf of a booster.Â
- NIL deals cannot be based on performance or achievement.Â
