JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University men's basketball team (6-6) jumped on Middle Georgia State (6-6) early on Saturday afternoon and never looked back as it rolled to its second-consecutive victory, 93-79.
Destin Barnes paced the scoring for JU in this one. He canned a team-high 17 points to go with three rebounds, but it was
Diante Wood who showed out with a career effort. Wood posted seven points while also grabbing 11 rebounds to easily eclipse his previous career-high. He added a pair of assists for good measure. Wood is the fourth different Dolphin to pull down 10 or more boards in a single game this season.
Jacksonville put all five starters in double figures with
DeAnthony McCallum dropping in behind Barnes with 16 while
Kevin Norman had 14 and
Aamahne Santos had 11.
David Bell continued his double-double spree. He had 10 points to go with 12 boards to earn his sixth double-double of the season, ninth of his career.
As a team, the Dolphins shot a scorching 52.9 percent from the floor in the first half and 47.6 percent for the game en route to the 93 points; which is a season high for a game that finished in regulation. Jacksonville players combined to knock down 11 triples and matched a season-high with 30 made field goals.
Next up for the Dolphins will be a two-game swing in South Carolina where they'll square up with Presbyterian on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. before visiting ACC foe Clemson on Dec. 20 at 9 p.m. The Clemson game will air live on the ACC Network.
