BRASELTON, Ga. – The Jacksonville University men's golf team made its charge on Tuesday during the final round of the ASUN Championship, firing an even-par 288 to finish +23 for the championship and claim a third-place finish.
The Dolphins improved with each passing round and its final round tally was only bested by two other programs. Jacksonville's top player and ASUN First Team selection,
Eduardo Carrete, flew up the leaderboard on Tuesday after posting a -3, 69. He finished +2, 218 and in a tie for seventh overall. His score marked his 10th round under par this season.
Thomas Thurloway began the day in a tie for second but went on to post a +6, 78 on Tuesday to settle for a ninth-place finish. Senior
Sam Uhland followed close behind in a tie for 12th after firing a -1, 71 in the final round, his sixth under-par trip of the year.
This closes out the third-consecutive ASUN Championship at which the Dolphins have finished third overall. The wait begins to see if the NCAA Tournament awaits. Last season JU joined the field with a GolfStat ranking of 63. The Dolphins held a rank of 70 entering this week's action.
