JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After one of the best individual finishes of the entire season by a Jacksonville Dolphin, senior men's golfer Daniel Montalvo has been named the ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week.

Montalvo astonished at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, helping Jacksonville to a fourth-place overall finish and a T-3 individual finish, earning him the weekly honors the league announced Thursday. 

Jacksonville's fourth place as a team (+1) was its highest this season and Montalvo's was the highest of his season year. He finished two-days of tournament play at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. carding a -4 score. It was the best individual round by any ASUN student-athlete in the field and ahead of two nationally ranked golfers including the number six overall golfer from Duke.

Montalvo finished his first round with a -1, 71 score and dazzled in round two with a three-under 69 showing. He ended tournament play Tuesday with an even par score of 72 on the course while notching one of JU's two eagles during competition. He finished play with one eagle and 12 birdies.

The Golfer of the Week honor is the first of Montalvo's career and first this season for either men's or women's golf programs at Jacksonville. 

The Dolphins have one final tournament test before the ASUN Championship, this time in Virginia. Montalvo and the rest of the program will head to the Giles-Sprately Collegiate hosted by the University of Richmond April 6-7 before the ASUN conference championship commences in Valdosta, Ga. April 21-23.
