Jackson Joins Women's Basketball Staff

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University women's basketball announced the hiring of Lisa Jackson as an assistant coach on Thursday.

Jackson joins the Dolphins after seven years as an assistant at Georgia Southern.

"We are beyond excited to add Coach Jackson to the 'Pod'!" said Head Coach Darnell Haney. "She is a seasoned coach, a great recruiter and a great fit for what we need here in Dolphin country."

Jackson worked primarily with perimeter players and served as the recruiting coordinator during her time in Statesboro, helping several players to All-Sun Belt honors, including junior guard Alexis Brown just this past season. She was instrumental in improving the roster as the Eagles made the transition from the Southern Conference to the Sun Belt in 2014.

Previously, she coached at Presbyterian College for two seasons, and helped guide the Blue Hose to the programs most wins in six seasons in the 2011-12 campaign. Before that, she spent time on the men's team staff at her alma mater, Erskine College, after starting her coaching career at Queens University (N.C.).

A 1,300-point scorer in her career, she earned second-team All-Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference honors twice and was also a multiple time recipient of CVAC Player of the Week awards.

"I am very excited to have to the opportunity to be here and to work with Coach Haney and staff," said Jackson. "There is a foundation of success here at Jacksonville and I look forward to continuing to push the program forward towards another ASUN Championship."

Jackson comes to Jacksonville for year two of the Haney era, joining assistants Stephanie Edwards and Briona Brown, as well as Graduate Assistant Tifani Kerrison and Director of Operations Breyona Spruell.
