Eight Dolphins Garner Top 20 Finishes While Team Places Second Overall in Statesboro

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Jacksonville men's cross country team accomplished its best finish of the season so far at the GATA XC Classic. Three Dolphins placed in the top 10 while the team placed second overall.

Owen Skelton crossed the finish line first for JU, with a 28:45.22 time to earn seventh place. Following within seconds behind Skelton, Thomas Hellenbrand and Kobe Latimer finished in eighth and ninth place respectively.

Next, five more Dolphins placed in the top 20. Douglas Kukura led the pack with a thirteenth place finish after landing a time of 29:21.48. Travis Freund, Nicolas Arciniegas, Riley Maher and Ryan Wethington finished just seconds after another to place in 14th, 16th, 18th and 20th respectively.

"This evening was another step in the right direction and serves as a great confidence boost before the conference meet," head coach Jordon Garman said. "We are excited to see what we can do at Disney in our most important race of the year."

Up next, the Dolphins travel to Orlando to compete in the ASUN Championship meet. The meet is set for Saturday Oct. 30.
