Jacksonville Records Multiple PRs at ASUN Cross Country Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla - Jacksonville University men's and women's cross country wrapped up their seasons on Saturday, competing at the ASUN Cross Country Championships at Cecil Field in Jacksonville. The Dolphins turned in one of their strongest complete team performances in recent years, highlighted by numerous personal bests and all-time top program marks.

Women's 5K Recap

The Dolphins were paced by Isabel DeVos, who has consistently led the pack throughout her freshman season. Her ability to improve week after week was on display Friday, with a 17:50 time that landed her in the top 35. For DeVos, it's a 16-second personal best, and the 10th best time in program history for a JU women's 5K. The performance caps a remarkable year for DeVos, who entered the program having never broken 19 minutes in high school.

Madeline Weiler also delivered as she finished the 5k in 18:23, which proved to be a 22-second personal best. Lana Grelli took nearly a full minute off her previous best, crossing in with a time of 18:32, a 51-second XC personal record and two seconds faster than her track PR at the same distance.

Jordan Dix followed closely with a time of 18:34, marking a 17-second improvement from her track personal best. Mya Bodrato, after overcoming several preseason challenges, posted a 13-second season best. Alexis Holmes continued her steady progression with a 12-second XC personal best, while Annah Priyadi secured her third straight PR, cutting 17 seconds from her previous outing.

The Dolphins also saw strong supporting performances across the lineup, including Eryn Field at 19:26, Alexis Garza at 19:29, and Josephine Leonard at 19:30, further contributing to one of the deepest team efforts the program has produced in recent years.

"Overall, we had a great day. The majority of the team was able to achieve their best performances ever", head coach Jordan Garman said. "We could spend all day talking about individual success, but this was the best team performance we have had in a very long time. Many of these girls never broke 20 minutes in high school, so I am very proud with how far we have come. We just have to remain hungry as the ASUN continues to get more competitive each year."

The women finished the ASUN Championships with three Dolphins in the top 50.

Men's 8K Recap

The men were led by senior Jack Bolan, who ran a 25:36. This proved to be a 30+ second PR for Bolan, and also moved him up to No. 4 all-time on the JU 8K cross country performance list.

Zach Earley posted a 22-second personal best with a time of 26:18, while Gabe Edwards matched his PR at 26:40. Ryan Miller recorded a season best of 26:47, and Caleb Brigman knocked off over a minute to run a 26:5; one of the largest drops of the day.

Zander Kochen continued the strong trend with a 22-second PR, crossing in 27:06. The Dolphins' depth continued with Noah Maske finishing in 27:37, followed by Paul Svilokos in 27:49 and Robert Welling in 27:51, rounding out the lineup for Jacksonville.

"For the most part, the guys ran lights out," Garman continued. "A lot of big time performances, and so much to be proud of with the development of these young men. We have to use this to continue to propel us forward so we can get more competitive in the ASUN."

The ASUN Championships were a historic day for the Jacksonville record book and showed a continuous improvement from Garman's squad. The Dolphins now turn their attention to offseason training and preparations for the upcoming track and field campaign.
