Dolphins Show Consistency in First Race of Fall

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jacksonville's men's rowing team competed in the Princeton Chase Regatta to start its fall 2021 campaign the morning of Nov. 7. JU raced two rounds in the men's heavyweight 8+ competition, finishing 23rd in the first race and eighth in the final. 

The first round began at 9:00 a.m. and consisted of 40 entries. JU finished 23rd with a time of 7:43.186, closely behind St. Josephs, Navy, Holy Cross and Syracuse. 13 boats faced off in the final round, the Dolphins finished eighth behind Syracuse and Pennsylvania. Similarly to the first round, JU crossed the finish line with a time of 7:46.185. 

"Our team has been working very hard for ten weeks for fall racing and our Varsity 8+ was able to execute well today," Head Coach Preston Weinard said. "They showed consistency in both races and this is truly a starting point for us looking to the spring season." 

Up next, the Dolphins travel to Augusta, Ga to compete in the Head of South Regatta. Race time is scheduled for 8:15 a.m.
