GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women's track and field team was back in action at the Tom Jones Memorial hosted by the University of Florida this weekend (Apr.16-17) and continued what has become the standard this year, once more posting a strong showing and setting several new school records in the process.
Hayleigh Palotti braved the elements during the 3,000 meter steeplechase to post a top three time of 10:09.25, shattering the previous school-record mark and eclipsing her own personal best by more than 20 seconds. Her time now places her in the Top 10 on the NCAA East region for the season.
Nicole Smith turned a personal best time of 23.93 seconds in the rain in the 200 meters, finishing just outside the top 10 in that event. In the 400 meters,
Sadae Davidson posted a top 10 effort with a time of 54.79 and was followed closely by Pashen William with a time of 55.82.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Elizabeth Crosby posted a top 15 result with a time of 1:04.44 competing against athletes from USF, Kentucky, Georgia, NC State and Coastal Carolina.
Sadie Morris and Emma Jones both recorded personal records Saturday in the 800 meters, with times of 2:07.85 and 2:10.55 respectively.
In the field events, it as another week and another broken record for
Sade Meeks as she continues to show why she is one of the greatest to wear a JU uniform. She posted a distance of 15.41 meters in the shot put to bring home a ninth-place result against competition from Kentucky, Florida, Miami (FL) Ole Miss and Louisville. In the hammer throw, she placed inside the top 10 with a throw of 55.84 meters. Freshman
Alyssia Richard posted a top 20 finish in the event with a distance of 14.11 meters and recorded a distance of 44.50 meters in the discus.
Freshman
Kristi Snyman and
Ivy McLamb posted strong showing in the high jump, clearing 1.69 and 1.59 meters en route to top 10 finishes in the event.
Adja Sackor posted a distance of 5.83 meters in the long jump and a 12.99 meter effort in the triple jump.
