ATLANTA, Ga. – The ASUN Conference announced its annual Men's Soccer All-Conference awards on Friday afternoon and the Jacksonville Dolphins saw four names honored, including
Cao Chaves,
Olivier Correa,
Reed Davis and
Nil Ringstrand.
Connar Lufkin and
Jose Manzo were included in the All-Academic Team announced on Thursday.
Cao Chaves – First Team All-Conference, All-Freshman Team
Chaves was an instrumental piece to JU's ASUN Championship run. He scored once and contributed six assists this season, but all six assists came over the course of the last four games, including a three-assist effort opposite Lipscomb in the ASUN semifinal. He became the first Dolphin to hand out three assists in a single game since 2010. He was named to the ASUN Championship All-Tournament team for his efforts.
Olivier Correa – First Team All-Conference, All-Freshman Team
Correa appeared in all 12 games for JU, making 10 starts and scoring five goals with two assists. His five goals are tied for the ASUN lead as are his 12 points. Correa did all of his damage in ASUN play, even scoring twice in the ASUN tournament, one of which was the game-winner opposite Lipscomb to send JU to the championship match. His tally at home against Stetson early in the conference season was also a game-winner. Correa was tabbed as the No. 50 freshman in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer in early April.
Reed Davis – First Team All-Conference, All-Academic Team
Davis returned to form in 2021 following a unanimous All-Freshman Team campaign in 2018. It was a long road back for Davis who battled injuries for nearly two years before returning to the pitch in 2021. Davis scored a league-leading five goals this season, four of which came in ASUN play. Two of his scores were game-winners and the Dolphins were victorious in every game Davis scored. He scored once during the conference tournament and was named to the All-Tournament team following a JU Championship.
Nil Ringstrand – Second Team All-Conference, All-Freshman Team
Ringstrand was a key piece on the Dolphin defense once he broke through into the starting lineup. He made eight starts and contributed to six of JU's seven shutout victories. He was the anchor of a Dolphin defense that was stifling down the stretch, especially at home. His unit went one stretch of 423 minutes and 35 seconds between goals allowed at home.
