JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University men's soccer's
Matias Tobon and
Jake Waters earned postseason recognition from the Atlantic Sun Conference, with Tobon named Second Team All-ASUN and Waters selected to the ASUN All-Freshman Team.
Tobon becomes the 35th different Dolphin to receive Second Team All-ASUN recognition, bringing Jacksonville's total to 41 selections in program history. He is JU's first second-team honoree since Olivier Correa, Mason Duval and Carson Wood earned the distinction in 2023.
The sophomore finished tied for the team lead with four goals and ranked second with 10 points, adding two assists across 16 appearances and nine starts. Tobon increased both his goal and point totals from his freshman season while remaining an important contributor to Jacksonville's attack.
Tobon opened the season with a goal and an assist in Jacksonville's 2-0 victory at Houston Christian before scoring again in a 5-1 win at Incarnate Word. His performances earned ASUN Player of the Week recognition as the Dolphins began a season 2-0 for the first time since 2001.
The second-team selection follows his ASUN All-Freshman honor in 2025, when he recorded three goals, three assists and nine points. Tobon was part of Jacksonville's program-record four All-Freshman selections that season.
Waters Honored on All-Freshman Team
Despite joining the Dolphins during the season, Waters needed little time to establish himself as one of Jacksonville's most productive attacking players. The ASUN All-Freshman selection scored four goals in just seven appearances, matching the team's season-high total while playing only 496 minutes. He averaged a goal every 124 minutes and led Jacksonville with two game-winners.
His impact extended beyond the numbers. All four of Waters' goals came in Jacksonville victories, helping the Dolphins win three of their final four matches. He scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Bellarmine on Oct. 17, his first collegiate goal providing the difference in a crucial conference matchup.
Just three days later, Waters delivered his first collegiate brace against Mercer. With Jacksonville trailing 2-1 in the second half, he scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute before finding the winner in the 79th, completing a 3-2 comeback victory. He capped his debut campaign with another goal in Jacksonville's 3-1 season-ending win over FGCU.
In a short time, Waters became a player Jacksonville could turn to in decisive moments. His ability to adapt quickly and produce immediately earned him conference recognition and gives the Dolphins an exciting attacking presence to build around entering next season.
