Adja Sackor Claims Long Jump Gold on First Day of ASUN Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University women's track and field team began the 2021 ASUN Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Hodges Stadium collected 24 points including its first gold medal of the weekend.

Adja Sackor claimed Jacksonville's 13th title and first since 2015 in the Long Jump as she landed a mark of 6.24m to win the event. The silver medal competitor was left well behind leaping 5.91m. Sackor's effort in the event ranks fourth all-time in the JU record book joining Courtney Walker's 2015 effort at that distance.

Not to be forgotten was Ivy McLamb's early efforts in the heptathlon. She rests in third place overall through four events with 2980 points. She cruised to victory in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.45 and followed that up with a second top finish in the High Jump. Her 1.68m mark (5'6") tied for fourth all-time in the JU record book and positioned her comfortably in first place through two events. McLamb then placed eighth in the Shot Put (8.72m) and fifth in the 200m (26.10) to close out Friday's events in third with the Long Jump, Javelin and 800m left.

The Dolphins claimed the second, fourth and fifth spots in the Shot Put on Friday as well. Sade Meeks briefly held the meet record at 15.84m before settling for silver. Her throw fell just short of her own program record of 15.86m. Alyssia Richard finished fourth with a throw of 14.18m and Alana Lecointe followed in fifth at 13.90m.
