Several Dolphins Record Personal Best Performances at North Florida Invitational

The two-day meet consisted of five personal best and multiple top 20 finishes.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women's track and field team achieved many personal best performances against solid competitors in the North Florida Invitational at Hodges Stadium. Thursday consisted of three personal records and and nine top 20 finishes, while Friday had two personal bests and three top 20 finishes. 

On Thursday April 29, Alyssia Richard started the field portion of the meet strong after earning a personal best throw on the discuss with 48.09 meters, that would land her at the No. 3 spot on the JU all-time list. Overall, Richard placed in the top 25 for her event. Following Richard's lead, Elizabeth Crosby earned a personal record for the 400 hurdles race, where she would claim the No.20 spot with a 1:02.96 finish. 

Sade Meeks continued to show the unbelievable strength she has had all season after placing second in shot put, with 15.86 meter finish. Behind her Richard, Erika Earwood, Alana Lecointe and Ivy McLamb placed in the No.15, No. 23, No.31 and No.39 spots respectively. 

During an impressive outing for long jump, Adja Sacker placed sixth with a 6.08 meter finish, beating her previous meet score of 5.83 meters. To round out the first day of competition, Alliann Johnson, Shalah Smiling and Pashen Williams placed in the top 20 in the 200 dash event, with 24.42, 24.50 and 24.54 times respectively. In the 1500 meter run, Emma Sullivan and Sadie Morris also had top 20 finishes within one second of each other with 4:37.24 and 4:38.53 final times. 

On the concluding day of the meet, two Dolphins shined in the hammer throw event. Lecointe collected a personal best hammer throw with a 48.95 meter finish, while Meeks strength shined as she obtained third place with a 56.74 meter finish. 

The last personal records of the meet was earned in the 1600 relay and 100 hurdle prelim events. Smiling, Johnson, Sadae Davidson and Williams finished with a 3:38.90 time in the relay, placing the group at the No.3 spot on the events all-time list. Crosby earned another personal best on hurdles during the 100 prelim when she earned a time of 14.86 seconds. 

Other notable finishes on the last day of the meet were led by Sacker, who places second in triple jump wit h12.97 meters, and McLamb who placed at No.21 in Javelin. 

The program will be back in action on Friday May 14 and Saturday May 15, for the ASUN conference championships in Jacksonville, Florida.
