Vandermoten Tied for the Lead After Day One of Sea Best Invitational

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. – Alexandre Vandermoten shot back-to-back 69s and is tied for the lead after the first day of the Sea Best Invitational.
 
Jacksonville University men's golf concluded Monday at TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley in a tie for eighth.
 
Vandermoten's first round started off tough, as he bogeyed his first hole of the day. From there, he settled in, ripping off 13 straight pars. He made his first two birdies of the day, and then went back to consistently scoring pars, scoring two more to finish his first round. His second round was a bit more up-and-down. He bogeyed three of his first five holes before parring four in a row. He finished his day on fire, making birdies on five of his last nine to move into a tie for the lead.
 
Josef Hacker bounced back in the second round, shooting even par, with two birdies and 13 pars. Joseph Sullivan made three birdies on the day, as did Filip Raza and Grant Haefner used a 1-over par second round to move six spots up the leaderboard.
 
Arkesh Bhatia was JU's top performing individual, shooting four strokes better in the second round with a pair of birdies and 12 pars. Brandon Valvano had three second round birdies and climbed 11 spots, as did James Dulin, who sank 14 second round pars. Jack Neill had three birdies on the day.
 
The Dolphins shot 3-under on Par-5 holes as a team, the second-best collective score in the field. The team had 111 pars and 20 birdies.
 
Vandermoten was one of the best in the field on Par-5s and Par-4s, shooting 3-under and even par, respectively. Hacker shot 2-under and Dulin 1-under on Par-5s, as well.
