PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Jacksonville University men's golf concluded day one of the John Hayt Intercollegiate in a tie for 13th.
Alexandre Vandermoten is T11 to lead the Dolphins with one round to play.
He started his day with a birdie, the first of three he sank in his first round. He mixed in 11 pars as he finished with a first round 74. In the second round he carded less red numbers, but was more consistent overall. After a bogey on two, he bounced back with a birdie on his fifth hole, and ripped off pars on nine of his next 10 holes. He finished his day with a birdie and two pars to climb 15 spots on the leaderboard.
Grant Haefner had four birdies in the first round, but just six pars as part of an up-and-down round. In his second, he was much more consistent. He made three pars in his first five holes, added a birdie on six before three more pars in a row. He ended the round with 12 pars and two birdies, moving up eight spots on the leaderboard by improving his score by two strokes.
Filip Raza started his day with two birdies and 11 pars. He birdied four on his first nine of the second round and added an eagle on his second nine, to go with six pars in his second 18 of the day.
Josef Hacker made seven pars and two birdies in the first round, but shot four strokes better in round two. He parred his first hole of the second round and made 12 total in his second 18 of the day, adding two birdies to climb 11 spots.
Joseph Sullivan sank eight pars and two birdies in the first round, with nine pars and a birdie in round two.
Jack Neill made 16 total pars and a birdie on the day.
Jacksonville shot 2-under on Par-5s collectively, making 96 pars, 24 birdies and the Raza eagle.
Raza led the way on Par-5s for JU, scoring 5-under on such holes and Hacker was 1-under.
The third and final round starts Monday morning with tee times starting at 7:45 a.m.
