ATLANTA, Ga. – Jacksonville University men's golf had two players voted to the ASUN All-Conference teams, as announced by the league offices on Friday.
Alexandre Vandermoten made the all-conference second team and
Filip Raza is an All-Freshman Team member.
"Happy for both Alex and Filip for being recognized for their hard work and strong play this season," said Head Coach
Jamey Salmon. "Alex has improved upon his strong first season on campus and hopefully Filip is able to follow in his footsteps.
"We are very excited for future of both of these guys."
Vandermoten followed up his All-Freshman Team season by posting a team-best 72.17 scoring average. The Baillargues, France native played in eight tournaments, and his score counted towards the team score all but four rounds. His finishes in the top-10 twice, posting his best 72-hole score of 211 at the Sea Best Invitational in February, finishing T4. He also shot a 211 at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate. He recorded five sub-70 rounds with 12 total rounds of par or better.
Raza played in all nine tournaments, and had a scoring average of 73.27 in his first season at JU. He recorded nine rounds of par or better and posted four rounds in the 60s. His score counted towards the team's all but three times. His best 72-hole score was a 214 at the Florida Gators Invitational, where he shot his best 18-holes of the year, a second-round 68. He finished the regular season with two top-30 finishes and placed in the top-50 six times.
Vandermoten is the 24th men's golfer at JU to receive first or second team honors, following
Michael Sakane's First Team All-ASUN recognition last year. Raza is the eighth freshman to make the All-Freshman team in the history of the program, with Vandermoten landing on the team the year before.
The ASUN Men's Golf Championship gets underway from UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga. On Sunday, April 24.
