Box Score DeLand, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women's soccer program (4-1-2, 1-1-0) fell to in-state foe Stetson (5-5-1, 2-0-1) 4-3, Thursday evening in ASUN play at the Stetson Athletic Training Center.
Selma Fohrer's two-goal showing was a match best, as
Bella Faherty rounded out the scoring for JU.
Gretchen Duttenhofer stopped three shots in goal for the Dolphins.
The Hatters would kick off the scoring in the contest in the 12
th minute, as Peyton Massie found the back of the net, courtesy of a free kick assist from Kyleigh Thelen.
Jacksonville would answer shortly after, as Fohrer would score on a penalty kick in the 16
th minute to tie the match at 1, after being fouled in the box by Stetson.
The Krefeld, Germany produdtc would continue her stellar evening, using her right foot to find the bottom left corner of the goal, giving Jacksonville a 2-1 lead entering halftime.
Less than one minute into the second half, the Hatters would tie the match at 2 courtesy of Hanna Arvay and the assist from Jillian Therrien.
A few moments later in the 49
th minute, Arvay snuck it past the 'Phin keeper in the top right corner, retaking the lead at 3-2.
The momentum would swing back to JU's side in the 54
th minute, as Faherty would find the upper corner to tie the match at 3, the first collegiate goal for the Jensen Beach, Fla. native.
With just over one minute remaining in the contest, the Hatters would sneak the ball past JU, to score the game-winning goal in the 89
th minute.
The Dolphins flip the page to Sunday at 1 PM, traveling to another in-state ASUN opponent, FGCU.
