Trio Of Dolphins Named To All-ASUN Postseason Team

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three Jacksonville Dolphins were named to the ASUN's Postseason Awards list, the league announced Wednesday.

Sophomore transfer Saki Sanno was named to the First Team All-ASUN in her debut year as a Dolphin, while returners Millie Urquhart and Paula Herranz were honored with Second Team distinctions.

Wednesday's awards highlight a season where Jacksonville earned the #5 overall seed in the ASUN Tournament after a 4-4-2 run through the league. Jacksonville squares off with #4 West Florida Thursday night in the opening round of the tournament hosted by #1 FGCU. Thursday's first kick is at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+

Sanno's Scoring Leads Dolphins
The sophomore midfielder Sanno stepped onto campus and immediately made an impact and that impact was felt all over the ASUN. Sanno played in all 17 games, earning 15 starts, including starting in Jacksonville's historic 2-0 season opening win over Miami. She scored her first goal against Warner, while also tacking on two assists before the start of conference play.

In ASUN competition, Sanno notched goals against Stetson, West Florida and UNF while adding assists in both games against the Hatters. Sanno came to Jacksonville after leading the NJCAA in shots and kept the trend up in Duval County.

Sanno led Jacksonville in total shots (51) and shots on goal (21). In ASUN play, Sanno had 38 shots and 17 shots on goal, both team highs. Across the league landscape, Sanno led all ASUN student-athletes in shots and was second in the league in shots on goal.

Her goal total was fourth in the ASUN and her assist total was tied for second in the league.

This season was the second straight where Jacksonville had a player honored with first team distinction, with Sanno joining Alicia Rey Perez. It was the first time since 2016 and 2017 where JU had back-to-back First Team honorees.

Herranz, Urquhart Anchor Jacksonville
Two of Jacksonville's most prolific players earned their postseason distinctions after solid senior years on the pitch. Urquhart earned her first ASUN postseason award while Herranz earned her second with the 'Phins and fourth overall.

Urquhart came on strong in her final season, setting personal scoring records and helping lead a stalwart JU defense.

The Ellon, Scotland native scored a career-high four times which was good for second on the team, while also tying her career-high in single season assists with one. Urquhart scored all four of her goals in ASUN play as well as her lone assist. Urquhart's final goal of the regular season, in JU's 2-0 shutout win over UNF, acted as the team's game winner and helped Jacksonville sweep the Ospreys in two-games for the first time ever.

Urquhart's 16 shots and seven shots on goal also acted as career-best marks. Helping anchor the JU defense all season, Urquhart also racked up three ASUN Defensive Player of the Week awards throughout the year.

As for Herranz, she started off the year earning the ASUN Preseason Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Herranz scored once against Warner and added three assists, two of which came in ASUN play. She was the only player to start all 17 games for the Dolphins and was fourth on the team in total minutes.

Herranz and Urquhart both helped Jacksonville put up five clean sheets across the full season.

Both players were also honored earlier with Academic All-ASUN awards alongside four other Dolphins. The Academic All-ASUN list can be viewed HERE. The full postseason award list can be viewed HERE.
