LAKELAND, Fla. – Jacksonville University men's cross country ran in the SSC Preview meet Friday evening, giving the Dolphins one last tune-up before the Atlantic Sun Championship meet.
"Less than optimal conditions and poor pace execution made for a tough race on the men's side," said head coach Jordon Garman. "However, Zachary Earley had a great day. Donald Dempsey III and Reese Arnold also did very well."
As mentioned, Earley and Dempsey III led the Dolphins, both placing in the top 50. Earley impressed as a freshman finishing in 28:56.84. Dempsey completed the 8K run in 29:30.19.
Arnold, the freshman from Grimsby, Ontario, Canada, was right behind Dempsey finishing in 29:43.09. Right behind Arnold, Jovan Figueroa finished in 31:06.05. Both placed within the Top-80.
The SSC Preview meet featured schools from around the state including cross-town rival North Florida, South Florida, Florida Southern, and Flagler. The 8K race was run at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Fla.
"Times were not indicative of effort, but today should allow us to make a confident decision on who to send to conference."
The Dolphins now head to Nashville, Tennessee. to compete in the ASUN Championship meet on October 28.
