FORSYTH, Ga. – Jacksonville University women's golf is in 11th place after two rounds of play Monday.
Casey Powell led the Dolphins on the day finishing at +5 on the day. The junior from Kentucky shot a 75 in her first round recording birdies on five holes as well as adding six pars. Powell had an improved second round, shooting 12 pars as well as a birdie on the par-3 7th. Powell finished T2 on par 3s. She will finish up her second round tomorrow, with only two holes left to play before she looks to finish strong in the third round.
Gemma Burgess began her first round playing with consistency, shooting par on six of her first seven holes as well as adding a birdie. Throughout the rest of her round, she added three additional birdies as well as three pars. She finished with a 74 in her first round. The freshman would continue her steady play through the second round, adding 12 pars and a birdie. She would finish her second round shooting 77 and is T37 at the par-72, 6040 yards River Forest Course.
Ivete Rodrigues had a rough first nine holes to start off her day but bounced back with seven pars and a birdie. She finished her first round recording a 77. She played 17 of her 18 holes in round two, adding 10 pars and two birdies. She will start on the last hole of her second round on Tuesday.
Issy Hopkins recorded an 85 in her first round and had a vastly improved second round shooting a 72, a Dolphin best for the day. Maria Eir
Gudjonsdottir finished with 16 pars and a birdie through two rounds of play.
The Dolphins will wrap up their play at the Mercer Invitational with a shotgun start tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. After the pin locations are changed at the conclusion of the second round, the third and final round will start.
