FORSYTH, Ga. — Jacksonville University's women's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule at the Mercer Invitational, hosted at River Forest Golf Club. Over the 54-hole event, the Dolphins placed sixth in the eight-team field, recording rounds of 315, 310, and 312 for a 54-hole total of 937.
The field included host Mercer, Florida Atlantic, West Georgia, Seminole State College, Daytona State, Chattanooga, Samford, Palm Beach State, and Jacksonville.
Senior Erin Marcelino led the way for Jacksonville, finishing inside the Top-15 after posting rounds of 73-78-75. Marcelino's opening-round 73 (+2) stood as the best single-round score of the week for the Dolphins.
Issy Hopkins opened the tournament with consistent play, shooting rounds of 81 and 77 on Sunday. She also turned in a one-over front nine during round two, marking her best stretch of the week.
Hannah Lowery closed the event with her best round of the tournament, carding a 74 (+3) on Monday to finish 22nd overall (82-78-74).
Alexis Rieli rebounded strongly after a tough opening day, delivering two steady rounds near the top of the Jacksonville lineup. Rieli's play was highlighted by an even-par front nine in round two and a two-under front nine in the final round — the best nine-hole stretch of the tournament for the Dolphins. Rieli's play during round three elevated her position to 23rd overall.
Bretton Mackiewicz provided key depth for Jacksonville, posting the team's second-best scores in rounds one and two, finishing with rounds of 79-77-85. Jacksonville used all of Mackiewicz's rounds during the invitational.
Competing as an individual, Kit Schaefer made her season debut at the Mercer Invitational, highlighted by an 86 in round two that included two birdies on the back nine.
