Simmons Announces First Fall Roster for Men's Soccer

Eight Transfers and Seven Freshman Highlight New Look Dolphins Squad

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University men's soccer has filled out its first roster under first-year head coach Ali Simmons.
 
The squad features eight transfers and seven freshmen, that will join 17 returners to make up the 2023 roster.
 
TRANSFERS
 
"We are very excited to bring in some NCAA-experienced players onto the roster," said Simmons. "I have personally worked with several players and our staff has done extensive research to make sure we are not only bringing in high-quality soccer players, but overall well-rounded student athletes to add to our already solid locker room."

Coach's comments: 'We are delighted to bring Owen home, he had an exemplary youth career and we are looking forward to getting Owen's best collegiate years, a ball playing centerback with excellent range and composure, he adds instant quality to the locker room.'
 
Mason DuvalElon
 
Coach's comments: 'Bringing in recent NCAA Tournament experience, I have had the pleasure of working with Mason in my previous role at Elon. In his last season for the Phoenix, he was top scorer on the team and was a First Team All-Region and All-CAA selection. He has excellent movement and is a constant danger throughout.'

Coach's comments: 'First and foremost, Mike Z is an impressive human being with an outstanding student-athlete resume, both on- and off-the-field. He is bringing experience in the goalkeeping position and will compete straight away.'
 
Kasper DavidssonMilwaukee
 
Coach's comments: 'Kasper is an experienced center-mid with over 3,000 Division-I minutes and brings with him NCAA tournament experience from his time at Milwaukee. Kasper is smooth on the ball, makes good decisions and works hard on- and off-the-ball.'
 
Cristobal Molina Keiser
 
Coach's comments: 'Cristobal is an experienced centerback who won the NAIA National Championship in his time with Keiser. We are excited to bring his talents and his winning mentality to Jacksonville.'
 
Jeppe JordosonElon
 
Coach's comments: 'Jeppe was a three-year captain at Elon where I previously had the pleasure of working under Coach Reeves. Jeppe is a class-act on- and off-the-field and instantly makes our locker room and team better.'
 
Daniel WilkinsHouston Christian
 
Coach's comments: 'Daniel had an excellent youth career and brings Division-I playing experience from his previous school. He is versatile, athletic and has a good passing range. We are looking forward to watching him grow within the program.'
 
Andres Perez de GraciaCal State Bakersfield
 
Coach's comments: 'A left-footed central midfielder who can hit any blade of grass with a range of passing techniques, he has a professional mindset and is a class act on- and off-the-field. Andres has the potential to be the future of the Dolphin program!'
 
FRESHMEN
 
"We are bringing in seven freshmen whom our staff believes can all develop into meaningful Division-I soccer players," said Simmons. "Personally, as the first true freshmen we will be bringing into the program, I am excited to look back on this press release in four-year's time and see what excellent, well-rounded people this group becomes."
 
Iver Skorve
 
Coach's comments: 'Iver has national team experience with Norway, representing their U18 team and also played a very high senior level. Iver has a wonderful left foot and likes to get into attacking areas and show his quality, he will have a bright future at JU.'
 
Pierce Amalberti
 
Coach's comments: We are very happy to be keeping Pierce's soccer talents in Jacksonville. He is very well known in the area and one of the most talented youth players in northeast Florida, coming out of JFC. Pierce has been coached by some esteemed JU alumni and comes highly recommended."
 
Kenneth Wallace

Coach's comments: 'A right-footed defender from Wake FC, he was part of the Wake team that made the MLS NEXT National Quarterfinal and brings with him a wealth of youth experience. He is calm on the ball and a competitor. We think Kenneth can develop into an effective Division-I soccer player and will represent this university on- and off-the-field with class.'
 
Tobias Holtan

Coach's comments: 'A talented midfielder out of Norway who can cover a range of positions up the field, he has an excellent range of passing and is a highly intelligent soccer player. Tobias has a high ceiling and could become a pivotal part of this program moving forward.'

Ted Gibbs

Coach's comments: 'Ted has national team experience representing ISFA. He is a calm, intelligent central midfielder with a good range of passing techniques. We think Ted can develop into a strong Division-I soccer player.'

Elijah Buford

Coach's comments: 'Elijah was identified at one of our ID Camps this past spring. Coach Rulle has an excellent eye and ability to develop goalkeepers and we are excited to welcome Elijah into our competitive goalkeeping room. He has previous experience at Atlanta United and has a wonderful character.

Nicholas Diaz

Coach's comments: 'Nico was identified at one of our ID Camps this past spring. He is a competitor and has worked hard to make a Division-I roster. Nico has some tools which can develop into real strengths at this level: good in the air, nice left foot and has a good range of passing.'
