JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University head baseball coach Chris Hayes has released the Dolphins 2024 schedule ahead of the season, which features matchups against familiar conference foes and bouts with some of the nation's best. The Dolphins are set to play against four teams that finished in the Top-100 of the NCAA RPI rankings in 2023 in Cal State Fullerton, Florida State, Florida Gulf Coast and Florida.
The Dolphins will start off the season at home with a three game weekend series against Cincinnati, with Opening Day on Friday, February 16 at 6:00 p.m. The 'Phins play 13 home games to begin the 2024 campaign before they take a trip to California for a three-game series against an established Cal State Fullerton on March 8 and 9. Overall, the squad will be playing 30 home games at John Sessions Stadium which includes a weekend series with rival UNF in the River City Rumble that begins April 19.
Last year marked the first year since the 2002 season that the JU Baseball program beat in-state opponents Miami, Florida, and Florida State all in the same year. The Dolphins will have two games with Perfect Game's preseason Top-5 ranked UF, and they visit Gainesville to play the Gators on March 19 and April 16. Jacksonville will also play the Seminoles three times in 2024, with the 'Noles coming to John Sessions Stadium on February 20, and the 'Phins traveling to Tallahassee on April 2 and May 7.
This year, Jacksonville will have matchups against other in-state programs such as South Florida and Central Florida. Other non-conference opponents coming to Duval include Delaware, Georgia Southern twice, Ball State, Valparaiso, and Bethune-Cookman. The Dolphins will also travel to play midweeks at Bethune-Cookman, and Georgia Southern.
Jacksonville looks to carry momentum from their three-seed finish a season ago in conference play. At home this conference season, JU will host Stetson, North Alabama, North Florida, Queens, and Kennesaw State. The Dolphins will go on the road to take on Bellarmine, Central Arkansas, Austin Peay, FGCU, and Eastern Kentucky to wrap up the season from May 16 to May 18.
