Box Score Athens, Ga. – It was a lopsided affair Saturday night for the Jacksonville Dolphins, as JU fell to the University of Georgia 102-56.
JU had the game tied for 2:18 total and were left trailing for the duration as UGA finished the game shooting an eye-popping 66.7% from the field. The Dolphins finished with a 35.1% shooting mark, led by 11 points each from
Zach Bell and
Kendall Munson.
Munson finished as one of the more effective players in green, going 4-9 from the field and 3-4 from the charity stripe. He also added two assists, a board and a steal.
Bell went 4-10 in total, adding a team-high two steals on defense.
Up until Saturday's contest the Dolphins had yet to lose a rebounding battle but were outrebounded by UGA 33-23.
Zimi Nwokeji led the team with four boards followed by freshman
Chris Arias' three rebounds.
Arias had a solid night off the bench and earned himself 23 minutes of time on the court. The Jacksonville-native ended with eight points on 3-5 shooting and 2-3 shooting from beyond the arc. His two makes from deep were a team best.
Usual lead scorer
Robert McCray V found himself in early foul trouble and was never able to establish himself. McCray had just one make from the field and was fouled in the process, converting on the free throw. McCray did contribute four assists, two rebounds a block and a steal.
The assist effort from McCray tied him with
Jakari Spence for best on the squad.
With under four minutes to play, head coach
Jordan Mincy emptied the bench and put in big man
Tito Deng for the remainder of the contest. Deng did the most he could with his minutes, immediately connecting on a deep ball on JU's first offensive possession with him in.
Deng grabbed two defensive rebounds and went to the locker room with seven total points. His scoring effort landed him third-best on the team and was a season-high in points, just shy of his career-high of 10.
JU turned UGA over 12 times and created 13 points from it, but the effort was not enough as the Dolphins fell to their second of two SEC foes.
