GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Jacksonville University women's golf team finished ninth at the Ironwood Invitational hosted by ECU. Moving up one spot in the final round, a pair of Dolphins,
Ivete Rodrigues and
Issy Hopkins, led the way in the tournament.
Rodrigues finished first for JU, earning 13th place after a three-over-par third round. Overall, Rodrigues shot nine-over-par, finishing the third round by carding even-par on the back nine, shooting par on each hole.
Issy Hopkins finished one stroke back, finishing her day at four-over, shooting ten-over in the tournament. Hopkins picked up valuable strokes on 18, shooting an eagle on the final hole.
Dolphin newcomer
Fernanda Lacaz finished third on the team, earning a spot in a tie for 41st. Lacaz finished the third round at two-over, shooting a birdie on holes seven and 15.
Rounding out the scoring lineup was reigning ASUN Women's Golfer of the Week
Casey Powell, with Powell finishing in a tie for 51st after a five-over third round.
Host ECU took home the team title, with Nicole Nash (ECU) earning individual medalist honors. The Dolphins will move on to the ASUN Championship Tournament on April 14-16, played at RTJ Hampton Cove in Huntsville, Ala., where JU finished fourth of 16 teams already this season.
