AUSTIN, Texas —
Alexandre Vandermoten finished in a tie for 50th at the Austin Regional hosted by the University of Texas. Vandermoten played amongst some of the top players in the country, battling for a spot in the national championship.
In the first round, Vandermoten started with a pair of birdies, finishing at even-par 71. After the first 18 holes, Vandermoten sat in a tie for 21st.
The second round saw struggles for Vandermoten, shooting an eight-over par 79 scorecard to knock him back into a tie for 61st.
Vandermoten returned to form in the third, shooting one-over-par (72) to move back up eleven spots and into a tie for 50th.
Texas cruised to the regional victory on its home course, having three different Longhorns in first, second and third. Christiaan Maas took home individual honors, shooting nine-under-par in the tournament.
