JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville University women's golf team finished in fifth place to begin the 2025 spring season, continuing its momentum after a strong fall season that featured head coach
Kathryn Dougan's first tournament title with the Dolphins.
Susana Olivares led the way for the Dolphins, finishing in a tie for fourth after a scorching hot third round, shooting five-under. Olivares has been on tear since the fall, earning ASUN weekly honors earlier this season. Olivares shot two-over in the first round, building momentum throughout the tournament with an even-par second round.
Second for JU was
Nicky Lautre who finished in 23rd, assisted by her one-under first round. A five-over par second round was followed by a one-over third round, culminating in a top-25 finish.
Rounding out the scoring lineup was
Ivete Rodrigues and
Casey Powell, as the pair both finished in a tie for 26th, just one stroke behind Lautre. Rodrigues put a pair of three-over scorecards on the board in the first and second rounds, finishing the event with an even-par 72 in the final round. Powell had a slow start in the first round, but battled back with a two-under second round.
Sophia Perkins finished fifth for the Dolphins, mirroring Powell's tournament, Perkins finished with an even-par scorecard in the second round and two-over in the third to finish tied for 39th.
Erin Marcelino, playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 59th, highlighted by a one-over first round. Marcelino finished second among all players playing as an individual.

Jacksonville will next play at the Babs Steffen Invitational hosted by Stetson on February 24th, looking to continue a strong start to the season.
