JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville women's rowing team will get its best chance to compete against its in-state rivals this weekend, traveling to the Florida Fall Invite. JU will battle against Florida Tech, Stetson and hosts Embry-Riddle for Sunshine State supremacy.
The Dolphins were scheduled to face intrastate foes earlier in the fall at the First Coast Head Race, but weather issues kept Jacksonville on shore. This time, however, Jacksonville gets a chance to test itself against the best of the state.
"This is our first full team regatta of our 2025/2026 season and could not be more thrilled to get back out and do some work," head coach
Mike Lane said. Â "I am consistently amazed at the depth and positive vibes our athletes display at practice and look forward to that continuing through race day."
The Championship 5K is slated for 9:15 AM. The Dolphins will row four separate eights in the event. The eights will be back later for the 1K starting at 10:35 AM.
JU's Varsity 8+ A crew will start against the A squad from Embry-Riddle and Stetson. The B and C crews will follow against the Eagles and Hatters. The D crew will duke it out against Florida Tech.
Jacksonville will also compete a pair of fours. The 5K is slated for 9:30 AM and 9:50 AM, and the 1K will go out at 10:55 AM and 11:10 AM.
The Dolphins men's program will also be battling at the event this weekend.
Head Coach Mike Lane
"We have a tremendous opportunity to reset the standard this year and have full faith in every single one of our women that they will do this. Â From top to bottom of our depth chart every single athlete is working to push those ahead of them which just continues to raise our standard! Â Let's get out and do some racing!"
