JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville University women's golf team finished second among a field of 15 teams at the Babs Steffens Invitational hosted by Stetson. 

The Dolphins finished behind the tournament hosts in the event with Casey Powell and Susana Olivares earning top-10 finishes.

Leading the JU lineup was Powell, who finished in a tie for sixth at five-over par. A 71 in the final round helped propel Powell towards the top of the leaderboard, finding a groove after a 76 in the second round. Powell was four shots off the leader in the event, her best performance of the spring so far.

Olivares finished second for Jacksonville, continuing a strong 2024-25 season. Olivares finished ninth overall, shooting a 73 in the final round to follow up a pair of 76's in the first and second round.

Up next for JU was Ivete Rodrigues who finished just outside the top-10 in 11th. Rodrigues shot 76, 77 and 74 in her three rounds. Rounding out the scoring lineup and marking the first time four JU golfers finished in the top-12 this season was Sophia Perkins who shot a 75 in the second round and a 73 in the third after an 80 scorecard in the first round.

Fifth for Jacksonville was Nicky Lautre who finished in a tie for 19th, highlighting her week with a 73 in the second round. Erin Marcelino finished in a tie for 46th while playing as an individual to round out the JU golfers in the event.
