JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ---
Katelyn Fischer, Senior Associate Athletics Director and Chief of Staff at Jacksonville University, was honored this past Friday for her illustrious career as a standout basketball player at her alma mater, Marymount University.
Fischer, who played three seasons for the Saints, won the 2014 Jostens Trophy. This award recognizes the most outstanding men's and women's Division III basketball players of the year based on three major criteria: basketball ability, academic prowess, and service to one's surrounding communities
During her playing career, Fischer was a three-time honorable mention WBCA All-American. She served as a two-time captain and earned recognition as the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013.
Off the court, she thrived in the classroom, earning first-team Academic All-American honors in 2013 and 2014. Additionally, she earned the CAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Year award in 2014.
Fischer averaged 16.6 points, 5.9 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game across her career. As of May 2024, she ranks seventh career scoring and third in career assists. She's also the school's all-time leader in career 3-point percentage (40.6%).
In the 2012-13 season, Fischer led Marymount to its 12th Capital Athletic Conference title. Leading the way in a win over Mary Washington, Fischer scored 18 points and finished the game with five steals and four assists. Marymount went on to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
At the end of her excellent playing career, Fischer began her career in business and athletic administration. She's held positions at the NCAA, the University of Maryland, and the University of Pittsburgh before joining the Dolphins in 2023.
