NASHVILLE — The Jacksonville University women's golf team finished in ninth place at the Nashville Invitational hosted by Lipscomb at Hermitage Golf Course.
Susana Olivares shined once again for JU, finishing in third place. It was the sixth straight top-10 finish for Olivares and her third top-3 result this season. Olivares had a slow start, as the field faced a tough course, but battled past her three-over scorecard in the first round.
Her second round finished at one-under, followed by an even-par final round. A tough front nine in the third round, was helped by bogey free golf on the back-nine, scoring three birdies.
Second for Jacksonville was
Ivete Rodrigues, who anchored the second position in the final scoring lineup. Rodrigues finished in 35th, shooting 15-over in total, highlighted by a pair of four-over scorecards in the first and second rounds.
Just one stroke behind Rodrigues was
Erin Marcelino who finished third for Jacksonville and 40th overall. Marcelino's three-over second round highlighted the tournament as she finished at 16-over for the week.
Rounding out the Jacksonville golfers was
Sophia Perkins and
Casey Powell. Perkins finished at 23-over playing as an individual and Powell right behind her at 26-over.
